We have all seen the phase diagrams and have wondered just how a wave actually functions. These diagrams represent the path of an electrical current through space and time, but it's a great deal more than that. In order to understand this well, we need to take a peek at a few of the properties of electromagnetic waves since they're emitted or absorbed by matter. First of all, we need to know that the source of an electromagnetic wave is the origin of energy. It has the same wavelength as the waves which it's traveling through, which means that the wavelength is measured concerning the frequency of these waves.
